Chinese Barbecued Pork Tenderloin
Ingredients
- 1 pound pork tenderloin
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon five spice powder
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
- Olive oil
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon dark sesame oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Trim fat from pork. In a small bowl or cup, combine next 4 ingredients (brown sugar through ground red pepper); rub the mixture into the tenderloin.
- Place pork on a broiler pan rack coated with a little olive oil; bake for 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl or cup, combine hoisin sauce, orange juice, and sesame oil; brush over tenderloin then bake for 15 minutes or until a meat thermometer registers 160 degrees (slightly pink).
- Slice pork and serve.
Notes
LC SERVING SUGGESTION: Cauli-Rice (process cauliflower in a blender or food processor until it resembles grains of rice; steam “rice” till tender; drain; salt and pepper to taste and fluff with a fork) and stir-fried mushrooms and snow peas.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Serve brown rice instead of Cauli-Rice.
KOSHER: Use a kosher beef roast instead of pork.
GLUTEN-FREE: Make sure hoisin sauce is gluten-free.
