- 1 pound lean ground turkey or use 95% lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup salsa
- 3 ounces low fat Cheddar cheese crumbled OR cubed, or use low fat Pepper Jack cheese
- Preheat grill OR oven broiler to MEDIUM HIGH. Form ground meat into 8 patties.
- Top with 1 to 2 tablespoons of cheese then another patty, pressing the edges together to seal in the cheese. Grill patties to desired level of doneness. Garnish with salsa, serve, and enjoy!!
LC SERVING SUGGESTION: A big bowl of Southwestern Coleslaw (toss together shredded cabbage, carrots and jicama with chopped green onions and cilantro; toss with a dressing of lime and orange juices, extra virgin olive oil and ground cumin). Add sliced cucumber and tomatoes on the side. SERVING SUGGESTION: Add buttered corn on the cob. KOSHER: Skip the cheese and add some canned diced green chilies to the insides of your patties.
