Baked Turkey Chili

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey browned
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 large sweet potato cubed
  • 2 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 1 large jalapeno pepper diced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried cumin
  • sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for coating pan
  • Aluminum foil


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the first 11 ingredients (turkey through salt and pepper) together.
  • Pour into an oil coated 9x13 inch baking dish and cover with tin foil.
  • Bake for 35 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  • Serve warm.


SERVING SUGGESTION: A Big Salad tossed with Leanne’s Basic Vinaigrette. In a large bowl, toss together torn lettuce (not Iceberg - no nutrition) and salad veggies of your choice. In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar, 1 clove pressed garlic and a pinch of dried basil and oregano; drizzle dressing over salad.
