Five Spice Pork Lo Mein

Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces uncooked Chinese noodles
  • 1 tablespoon grated gingerroot
  • 2 teaspoons five spice powder
  • 3/4 pound pork tenderloin trimmed and cut into thin strips
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt divided
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions

Instructions
 

  • Cook noodles according to package directions; drain then place in a large bowl and snip several times with kitchen shears.
  • In a medium bowl, combine gingerroot, five spice powder, and pork strips; add 1/4 teaspoon of salt and toss to coat.
  • Heat the oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat; add pork mixture and sauté for 2 minutes or until browned.
  • Stir in remaining salt, water, and hoisin sauce; cook for 2 minutes or until pork is done.
  • Add pork mixture and green onions to noodles; toss well to combine.

Notes

SERVING SUGGESTION: Serve steamed broccoli spears on the side.
VEGETARIAN: Use non-breaded faux chicken patties instead of pork.
KOSHER: Use boneless skinless chicken breast meat instead of pork.
GLUTEN-FREE: Use gluten-free noodles and make sure five-spice powder and hoisin sauce are gluten-free.
